2022 looks like a big year for Topette!! The Anglo – French quintet are back, with a new album, a UK tour and festival gigs, rolled over from 2020. After nearly two years apart, the band got back together in November and wasted no time, recording Bourdon in just five days. This bold album is full of the excitement and joy of these five inventive musicians, finally getting to play again, after the long, unwelcome hiatus.
Look out for the release of Bourdon in April, the UK tour in June, and definitely try to catch one of their legendary festival dance / bal / concert sets.
PHIL BEER
World-class award winning multi-instrumentalist, singer, arranger and composer Phil Beer is a founder member of the internationally acclaimed folk/acoustic roots pioneers Show of Hands. His own Phil Beer Band is much in demand as are Beer’s solo performances. Phil is a much sought after musical collaborator, session player, recording engineer and producer.
In February 2022, I will embark on another solo tour. The theme of this tour is ‘Songs of the Road’. The first set will be short and sweet and taken from my standing repertoire. The hour long second half will knit together a number of traditional, contemporary, and original songs about travelling.
These will be arranged for the usual array of instruments and will tell the story of being on the road, both now and in older times.
Looking forward to shaking off the lockdown blues and being ‘On the Road’ once again.
